Just a quick safety reminder from your friends here at the Handsome Genius Club. Please be extra careful with your Christmas tree and other decorations this holiday season. Faulty wiring from lights and exposed flames from candles can ruin your good times. There was an apartment fire just yesterday here in Toronto and we don't want that to happen to you. So do your own Santa Claus inspection: check everything twice. And have a happy Christma-Kwanzaa-Hanu-Rama-Fetivus season from everyone here at the Handsome Genius Club..

HGC Radio - Episode 15: Friendly Neighbourhood Genius Club

Fifteen, baby! Fifteen episodes of the Handsome Genius Club and we just keep working and growing and (hopefully) getting better and better. This week, ANTHONY KINGDOM JAMES welcomes infamous stand-up comedian DOUG STANHOPE to the show. Stanhope's comedy is an incredibly hilarious and brutally honest mix of social and political commentary mixed with stories of his own sexual misadventures and recreational drug use. Doug joins the show to discuss his life, his career, his drinking buddies and anything else that crosses his mind.
Sandwich all that between the weekly Nerd News, Kingdom names his favourite Japanese animated series ever, NOAH PANICO's movie review, an update on Kingdom's interview for Space Network, some news from TJ and YOSHI and much more on today's HGC Radio Show.
PUSH THE PINK BUTTON and thanks for listening! Oh, and don't forget to leave a comment for us here on the website. Tell us about your favorite anime. Have you ever seen the movie Noah reviewed? What did you think of Doug Stanhope? Have YOU ever gone to work "under the influence"?

R.I.P. Bettie Page
Legendary pin-up girl Bettie Page has died at the age of 85. Page had been hospitalised for three weeks suffering from pneumonia when she suffered a heart attack last week and never regained consciousness.Page's trademark curvy figure and raven hair made her a fixture in men's magazines in the 1950s, and the icon found a cult following that lasted long after her modelling days.
The star also landed parts in dozens of silent fetish films in which she often played a dominatrix, but the aspiring actress only had one small speaking role in the 1953 movie Striporama.
American actress Gretchen Mol played Page in the 2005 biopic of her eventful life, The Notorious Bettie Page.
Playboy founder Hugh Hefner, who hand-picked Page to be the Playmate of the Month in January 1955, has paid tribute to the star, saying: "I think that she was a remarkable lady, an iconic figure in pop culture who influenced sexuality, taste in fashion, someone who had a tremendous impact on our society. She was a very dear person."

HGC Radio Episode 14 preview
Tha O Show brought in Persephone Vice? We countered with Kat. Tha O Show brings in Monika Maple? We're countering with Diamanti Damons. Okay, so we're just kidding about it being a competition but just the same, we didn't want to be completely outdone by our partners in crime, Big Daddy Donnie and Dan-e-o, so we invited the current Miss Howard Stern TV into the studio for a deeply penetrating interview about her life as a stripper, a soon-to-be porn star and as 24/7 sexual dynamo! Also, Kingdom's going to be making some television appearances in Canada. Get the first info on when, where and why in this episode. Plus, Noah's movie review of Twilight, TJ's wearing pants again, Yoshi sees his new veternarian, another edition of "Who Said No To Us Now?" and much, much more all coming at you in just a few hours on another crackerjack episode of the Handsome Genius Club Radio Show.
HA! I said "deeply penetrating".

From Printed Page To Silver Screen #7
Welcome my fellow Handsome Geniuses to the newest edition of PP2SS. This time around were going for some news on the new Sin City which may upset our fearless leader Kingdom James, and some Dark Knight news. But firstly we go to a preview of the upcoming DragonBall Evolution. The trailer is available now and the film is due for release on 8th of April.
Looking at this trailer I think we may be in for a pretty cool if not slightly corny film, I like the effects and the fact that Piccollo is actually green, although he looks a bit like Jim Carrey in The Mask! Going with the green theme, there are rumblings that the new Green Hornet film will be previewed at the 2009 Comic-Con. Seth Rogen has told Sci-Fi Wire that filming will not start until May.
Now for some bad news. If you have listened to the latest edition of the HGC radio show(and if not, why not?? Go now, listen then come back!!) then you will know that one of the main reasons many people, including Kingdom, are looking forward to the next Sin City film is Mickey Rourke playing Marv. Last week all reports said that both Miller and Rourke were looking forward to making the sequel this may not be the case for Rourke however!
He spoke to Comingsoon.net and said "No, I'm not interested... that's three hours of make-up and I'm claustrophobic." This could be sad news as Rourke's portrayal of Marv was spot on and was one of the things that made the first film so enjoyable. The Sequel is supposed to be based around the mini-series ' A Dame to Kill for' so Marv wouldn't be a main Character anyway but he is usually around so I hope they can work something out and get him to come back.
Now on to some films already released. Punisher: Warzone opened in the US at a disappointing 8th place. Compared with the likes of Iron-man and the Hulk it has not been much of a success but there are plenty of things that I think are to blame for this. Firstly is the treatment of the character and secondly is the quality of the last film with Tom Jane and John Revolting. It get's it's release here in the U.K on the 20th of Jan so I will have a full review then.
Finally on a darker note, Heath Ledger has won the Australian Film Institutes's award for Best actor for his role in the Dark Knight. I am glad he is getting recognised for this and I sincerely hope he gets the Oscar for best Actor this year also.
Well that's us for another edition. I have recently picked up a copy of Wanted on DVD having not made it to the Cinema to see it so I thought I would do a review of this for you all to whet your appetites for Punisher and The Spirit so you can look forward to that next week same Bat time, same Bat channel.

YouTube Gold: Toews vs. Kane
Patrick Kane and Johnathan Toews (pronounced TAYVZ) of the Chicago Black Hawks (pictured here with Hall of Famer Bobby Hull) are both doing well in the voting for this season's NHL All-Star Game. Their campaign to garner votes has gotten pretty political though, and both have released videos on YouTube meant to slander each other. Check them out after the cut...

The Five Best and Worst Smurfs Ever.
It's a pretty safe bet to say that most everyone has a few fond memories of the magical blue creatures known in this part of the world as The Smurfs. Created by Begian cartoonist Peyo, "Les Schtroumpfs" as they were first known, have been delighting fans for 50 years. 2008 is, in fact, the 50th Anniversary of the Smurfs. To help celebrate this momentous occasion (and with word of a new live action/cgi Smurfs movie on the horizon), this writer has decided to cobble together this list of the five BEST and WORST Smurfs of all time. I hope you'll agree with my choices, but more than anything I hope this helps you cheerfully waste a few minutes of your day.Enjoy...
5) Jokey Smurf - Say what you want about the village’s mad bomber being a one-trick pony but Jokey was funny. Even when his signature red and yellow gift bombs exploded in his own face, Jokey was always worth a laugh. And when the gift gag grew stale for a while, Jokey, like a teen superhero reaching adulthood or a pro wrestler who isn’t selling enough merchandise, changed his gimmick… or don’t you remember “The Masked Pie Smurfer”?
4) Grouchy Smurf - An eternity around all those cheerful Smurfs with their singing and dancing like little blue School of the Performing Arts kids would probably make you a little cantankerous, too. Think of Grouchy as the Lewis Black of Smurfs. Somesmurf needs to occasionally block out that blinding constant ray of hope the Smurfs always seem to enjoy with a little old fashioned pessimism.
3) Hefty Smurf - Hefty was athletic, strong as an ox and always willing to help his fellow Smurfs. He was also the only Smurf with tattoos. Sure he was a little vain about his physique but nowhere near as vain as that jerk-off posing in the mirror at the gym you go to each week. And Hefty Smurf was all-natural. When he was winning medals at the Smurf Olympics, no one needed to ask him to smurf into a cup.
2) Handy Smurf - Another essential Smurf, Handy builds houses out of mushrooms, then builds all the furniture to go inside them. And like a little blue Macgyver, Hefty will whip that pencil out from behind his ear and sketch up the blueprints to whatever it’ll take to solve the Smurfs’ troubles.
1) Papa Smurf - Let’s face facts: without Papa Smurf, Gargamel would have turned the entire population of the Smurf village into gold a long time ago. Everyone turns to him for guidance in times of trouble. He’s the smartest and most resourceful of the Smurfs, he wields powerful magic plus he’s rocking a sweet beard. And now, for the five WORST smurfs of all time...
5) Lazy Smurf - Like all Smurfs, his name pretty much tells his story and this is the story one of sloth and corpulence. Maybe if his name was Narcolepsy Smurf, Papa could put him on some medication and get him active. But no, Lazy Smurf is just a lazy Smurf. So smurf him. Smurf him right in the smurf.
4) The Smurflings - They suck. End of discussion.
3) Vanity Smurf - I’m always surprised that Vanity can see his reflection in that mirror… you know, on account of him having his head inserted so far up his own little blue ass. What the hell is he looking at in that mirror anyways? He looks exactly like every other smurfing Smurf in the village!!! A little less posing and a little more helping out his fellow Smurfs would do this smurf-in-the-loafers little pansy a world of good.
2) Brainy Smurf - You know, there’s a pretty simple reason why Brainy is on the receiving end of so many Bjorn Nittmo-style field goal kicks to the ass: No smurf likes a know-it-all. Especially not a know-it-all who is always wrong! Oh, and this thing where he thinks he’s second-in-command behind Papa Smurf? Who would ever follow this pompous jackinape‘s orders? Face facts, folks… Brainy is the Dwight Schrute of the village.
1) Smurfette - The worst Smurf of all and she isn’t even really a Smurf! (Gargamel made her with clay and an evil magical spell.) Smurfette is nothing but trouble. The Smurfs lived peacefully and harmoniously in their all-male kibbutz for well over 100 years before she came along (without even a hint of prison-style homosmurfuality arising) and suddenly there’s civil war in the village! Other female Smurfs have appeared over time and none of them have caused havoc like Smurfette. Therein lies a very real lesson we can all take from the Smurfs: learn how to spot fake people and avoid them at all costs.
